Conductor and composer, he graduated from Federal University of Bahia. Among his works stand out pieces for choir, instruments, singing and piano. He was founder and conductor of the Ars Nova UFMG choir for 41 years. With his Missa afro-brasileira (1976) he won the Prize of the Association of Art Critics of São Paulo - category Best Vocal Work.
