The most praised Brazilian opera composer, he has been the first to have his works presented on the famous Teatro Alla Scala (Milano), where they have been much acclaimed. One of his main titles is O Guarani, with a libretto based on a book by José de Alencar and which Abertura is a brief introduction of the Brazilian radio program A Voz do Brasil.
