He was the creator, with Luperce Miranda, of a Brazilian school of mandolin. Jacob started his career at the end of 1940's and for all his life he has excelled as one of the most important choro composers in Brazil. As an instrumentalist of rare perfection, he bequeathed a vast repertoire recorded in many albums, product of his tireless work as a music researcher.
