Marcos Portugal

Marcos did a brilliant career in Europe, having operas staged not only in Lisbon, but in many Italian cities and other important courts, like Paris and Saint Petersburg. He was the preferred compositor of Dom João, unwilling in coming to Brazil, what just happened in 1811. Some of his operas were staged in the Real Teatro São João, in Rio de Janeiro. He never returned to Europe, dying here in 1830.
