Son of a violinist of the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro's orchestra, Rio de Janeiro native from the neighborhood Santa Teresa, and pianist that at the age of 16 has already belonged to the bossa nova movement. Antônio Adolfo started to study music in his childhood and from the begining of 60's he started to attend different places in Rio de Janeiro where jazz and bossa nova were played. Travelled across Europe with Elis Regina and composed soundtracks for the cinema, theatre and television. In 1970, he won the V International Song Festival with the song BR3, composed with Tibério Gaspar and performed by Tony Tornado. He is the director, organizer and professor of the established by him Centro Musical Antônio Adolfo.
